their embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. In the Wikinews article
they are neutral they report the facts and show no bias however on the CBS
article they show negative bias towards the story one example of this is how
the CBS article describe the decision as” contentious” the use of the word contentious suggests that
they believe this decision will cause conflict and do not agree with the
decision that has been made by America.
The CBS article
goes in to a lot more depth and is a longer article than the citizen journalism
article on Wikinews. The article on Wikinews is only 315 words long compared to
the CBS article that is 1026 words long. The purpose of the Wikinews article is
to quickly provide you with the facts. The CBS article uses opinion an example
of this is when it says “is
sure to heighten the frustration of Palestinians and America's Arab allies”
This quote tells us that the CBS journalist believes that this decision
CBS have
included a video in their article about how the UN have condemned Trump for
moving the embassy. This video has been included because CBS agree with the
view of the UN. CBS also believe that moving the embassy was bad. Including a
video also means that you don’t have to read as much text this will make the
article more appealing.
Another example
of how they show negative bias is when it says “Trump's policy shift set off
protests and condemnation across Arab and Muslim countries” this quote is
further proof of how CBS disagree with the decision that Trump has made
regarding Israel.
In the CBS
article they frequently refer to Donald Trump as MR Trump instead of president
Trump in the Wikinews article they always refer to him as president Trump. This
suggests that CBS are not even recognizing that he is president. This further
shows that CBS has negative bias and that Wikinews is neutral and is just
reporting the story.
